Superb late 18th century 8 day tavern clock by William Wallen from Wokingham, Berkshire. Standard "A" plate movement, with knopped pillars and usual wheel train. Round white painted dial with black and gilded circumference. Roman numerals with arabic 5 minute marks. Original brass hands. Full chinoiserie decoration to door with makers name below dial. Case is finely decorated with gilded lines and floral sides.

Back box has locking bottom door and 2 pendulum access side doors. Early features include restrained ears and method of fixing dial to bezel. Blued steel hands. Movement strikes the hours on a bell. Rectangular plated anchor escapement, line fusee movement separated by knopped pillars. Thomas Gamage was a member of the clockmakers company 1814-1840.

Erly 19th century 8 day trunk dial wall clock by Cockburn (probably James, working 1828-39) from Richmond, Surrey. 2 piece mahogany and flame mahogany veneer case with brass inlay. Case and bezel secured by 4 pegs. Case bottom is radiused to the wall. With locking bottom door and pendulum side access door. 12" convex dial, marked with roman numerals and makers name above and below the centre. The hands are moon pattern, blued steel. Dial is protected by a glazed cast brass bezel. Line fusee movement with shaped shoulder plates separated by knopped pillars. Clock probably from Roehampton vicarage, Alton rd., less than 3 miles from Richmond. See label on case back.

Movement secured to dial by falseplate. Blued steel hands. Original convex glazed cast brass bezel. Mahogany and brass inlaid case with fan ears and visible pendulum aperture. Backbox secured with 4 pegs with locking bottom door and pendulum side access door. Back of movement is marked Nicholas Daventry. The Nicholas family worked in Daventry through the 19th century, they had relatives working in Southwark, London in the early 19th century.
